  2. Peel the groats and rinse them.
  3. Bring water to a boil over high heat, pour salt and sugar, and grits. Bring to a boil again, stirring constantly.
  4. When it boils again, remove the foam, lower the heat to minimum and cook the groats until the water is completely absorbed under a lid, that is, about 20 minutes. In general, the first steps are the same as when cooking normal wheat porridge with water.
